Features of the Arabian Desert
The Arabian desert is 2 330 000 km² squared {almost twice the size of Ontario.} It is located in Saudi Arabia which is located in the Western part of Asia. It stretches from Yemen to the Persian Gulf and Oman to Jordan and Iraq. In the middle of the Arabian Desert there is the
Rub'al-Khali which is one of the largest continuous bodies of sand. |

The Arabian Desert has steep canyons, steep cliffs, and small patches of grass. The Arabian Desert only has small patches of grass because there isn't enough water to have a lot of grass so small patches grow. In three corners of the desert there are mountains one in Saudi Arabia - Jabal
Al-Lawz - one in Oman - Mount Al-Shām- and one in Yemen - Jabal Al-Nabī Shuʿayb. After Jabal Al-Nabī Shuʿayb and you start to move inland there is an escarpment that is rugged and dissected into steep canyons. At the foot of the escarpment there are steep cliffs. Near the middle of Saudi Arabia there is a sand desert called Rub' al-Khali sand desert. This sand desert takes up one third of the Arabian Desert. |
